"If you think it's hard to meet new people - try picking
up the wrong ball!" -- Jack Lemmon
Bob Smith:
To all of our friends and members of the Madawaska Golf Course:
My good friend Bob Smith passed away on Saturday, March 29th, 2008.
He had been in the hospital since early February, combatting cancer.
Bob was not only the Starter, Marshal, Gardener at our club, but an active member that took part in Men’s Senior Tuesday, Men’s night (Team Milwaukee), Mixed Friday Nights and Men’s Tournaments but he was a proud father, grandfather and loving husband.
Most of all he was "a great guy and my good Buddy Bob”.

Driving Range News:
Updates expected:
We have a few plans to update our driving range to make it more attractive to those who would like to warm up before your game. Our range has been open for a few years and it is due for a few changes.
Located beside number 9 fairway, our driving range is equipped with 9 tee stations, all natural tee areas. An automated ball dispenser is located at the back of the tee area. There are yardage markers at the 50, 100 and 150 providing a great warm up area for your game of golf. At only $3.50 for a small bucket it’s a GREAT DEAL.
Junior Golf:
We are Kid Friendly
Madawaska Golf Course is home to one of the Largest Junior Memberships in the Ottawa area. With our beginners course and junior instruction program we are a great facility to learn to play. We are KID FRIENDLY. Kids are welcome to spend the day at the course putting, chipping and playing golf. (we do not provide supervision outside of the normal conduct on a golf course).
JUNIORS WANTED... ask about group specials, they will be available starting in May. If you are a Coach, Parent or Members of a Hockey, Soccer, Ringette or other youth team and some of your players are interested in golf, we have a program and pricing for groups. Give us a call at 613-623-3852 to find out how to take advantage of our offer and continue to build team spirit.
Maintenance:
The course is in good hands!
With Gord (Superintendent) and long time employee Rick combined with Martyn, Hayden, Doug, Doug, Doug and Warren, backed up by some enthusiastic students we expect to be in great shape “each and everyday of the 2008 golf season”.
The winter has been extremely long, over the past 23 years it is the most snow we have ever had. Many of you have asked “ what the snow will do to the course ? “ We are not sure. We did get our chemicals applied, our greens punched and there was a good snow cover before the ice. The chances are we will have good spring conditions with minimal damage.
Thanks for the Compliments:
Over the past few years many of our golfers have rated us as the best-maintained course in the area, and we are the valley’s “best value experience for the money”.*
Our staff works to exceed your expectations, and create an “experience worth repeating”. We hope that you will continue to play our courses in 2008.
“I drive past your course on the highway all the time, I will have to stop in some time.’ This is comment I hear far to frequently. Next time you are in our area save some time to visit our course. We would love to have you play a round.
We expect to Open around the 24th of April with a little co-operation from Mother Nature.
*as received through informal survey at the 1st tee.
Congratulations:
Martyn has completed his courses at Algonquin College and will be joining the crew as a full time employee. (Congratulations Marty)

Golf for Peace:
A
great experience.
A great success.
Thanks to everyone.
Back
in October, 35 brave souls along with 30 to 40 supporters participated
in the Madawaska Golf for Peace Tournament.
The
weather was terrible, cold, wet….just plain ugly.
However,
about 65 supporters dropped by for coffee, to play golf and be part
of our first Golf for Peace Tournament.
All
of the Product Collected was delivered to Petawawa and has been
received by 20 soldiers, all on the front lines in Afghanistan.
The Banner arrived January 13th.
From
all of our Family and Staff, thank you.
We
are sure that the group that received the packages will enjoy all
the delightful gifts.
