SUNDAY, JULY TBA - MEN'S INTERSECTIONALS

A Quebec Golf Association event involving over fifty 12 person teams in the Eastern Ontario/Western Quebec area. This is a "ladder" type of event with four golf clubs making up each of the 13 Flights (A-M) and moving positions on the "ladder" relative to their performance compared just to the other three teams. The winning team moves up a flight, the second and third place teams stay in the same flight with the second place team becoming one of the host clubs for the following year (except "A", where the winner hosts), and the last place team moves down to a lower flight.

The format for the intersectional competition will be match play. With each foursome comprising of one team member from each of the four clubs, individual matches will occur with each team member playing three separate matches. Points are awarded for performance within each match. A win equals two points, a tie is one point, and a loss receives zero points. Therefore, six points would be a perfect individual score (three matches won at two points each) and 60 points for a team.

Players qualify for the Intersectional Team by accumulating the most stableford points by counting their best two point rounds out of three. The designated qualifying rounds are the first 2 field day events of the year, and one other qualifying round.

TBA - SENIOR MEN'S INTERSECTIONALS

The event is similar to the above mentioned Intersectional description. However, this is an eight man team comprising of at least two members from each of the following age groups (as of January 1st of the current year): 55-59, 60-64, and 65+. One alternate must be 60+. Players qualify for the Senior Intersectional Team by accumulating the most stableford points by counting their best two point rounds out of three. The designated qualifying rounds are TBA.

MEN'S HANDICAP MATCH PLAY COMPETITION

Limited to the top 64 qualifiers who have paid there $2.00 entry fee on the first field day event of the year. Taking place over the course of the summer, with the finals completed before the last official Men's Day.

This event format allows players of all skill levels to compete on a level playing field. Generally, two weeks are allowed to complete each round. Both players are responsible to make contact with the other player at least one week prior to the match date.

Inform the referee, at least six days before the match is to be completed if you are unable to get in touch with your opponent. Disqualification of BOTH players will occur if the match is not played by the proper date and neither player has informed the referee of difficulty in arranging the match. Decisions of the referee will be final, with no appeal.

Extensions and exceptions will not be granted. To ensure the competition runs smoothly over the summer, players must make a sincere effort to contact their opponents as early as possible. Telephone numbers will be posted.

CHAMP DE VACHE

This competition involves all players participating in the men's tournaments throughout the summer. Players are automatically registered into this event after participating in 1 stroke play competition. An award will be presented to the individual who has the lowest net total using their best 4 net scores out of a possible 7 individual men's competition rounds. This event will be awarded on the last official stroke play competition of the season.

Our Ladies' Club receives many invitations from other Clubs during the season, and these are posted on the Ladies' Board. These Tournaments are open to all Club members with established handicap indexes, and are a great way to play other Courses at reasonable rates. All entries and entry fees must be in the Ladies' mail box.

If you have not paid by the designated date, your name will be deleted from the list. Place your entry fee in cash in an envelope and clearly marked with: your name, current index, name of Club, date of event , and amount enclosed. If paying by cheque, (make it payable to the Outside Tournament Chairperson), give the same information on the back of the cheque before depositing it in the Ladies' mail box.

LADIES' INTERSECTIONALS

There are four (4) different golf clubs represented in each group. Madawaska began in Group A and over the last six (6) years has dropped down two levels to Group C. It is a match play format where each player of a foursome is matched against the other three (3) players simultaneously, without handicaps being taken into consideration. Qualifying rounds for Team Madawaska Intersectionals will be determined by the best two (2) of three (3) eighteen (18) hole gross 'modified Stableford' scores (see schedule). A nominal fee will be requested before play begins.

LADIES' MATCH PLAY

All members interested in "Match Play" should sign up before May 11th. The sign up sheet will be posted on the Ladies' Board. "Match Play" is determined by a draw of the interested members. The draw will be posted in early June. The player named first on the draw sheet is responsible for setting up the date and time of the match. Each match is based on 18 holes, and must be played within the specified two week period. Dates are specified on the "Match Play" draw sheet. In the event of a tie, the match will go to sudden death starting on hole #10. "Match Play" scoring is calculated using players' handicaps and hole handicap ratings on score cards. (For example: a 20 handicapper matched with a 30 handicapper would get 1 stroke on the 10 most difficult holes-according to ladies' handicap ratings on the score card, i.e. holes #1,2,5,6,9,10,14,15,17 and 18). If you have any problems, ask a member of the Executive.
