The
Madawaska Golf Course, located on Western edge of Ottawa,
at Arnprior was originally designed and built by Mr. Alan Howard
in 1976, it opened as a 9 Hole Golf Course with a Driving Range.
Within a year the Madawaska Golf Course expanded to be the
first 18 Hole Facility in the Arnprior area. Over 10,000 small Pines
and Spruce were planted outlining the fairways giving the course,
now over 25 years old, well defined fairways, challenging rough,
requiring a target golf approach.
In 1986 the Madawaska Golf Course was purchased by Richard
Munro and set out to become a "Best Value Golf Facility".
With a strong commitment to service and customer understanding the
Madawaska Golf Course has become one of the most popular
Golf Courses in the Arnprior and Ottawa areas. Mr. Munro added the
restaurant and bar facilities in 1986 to provide a full service
Golf Facility. In 1997 the Driving Range/Practice Facility were
re-introduced.
In 1998-99 the Madawaska Golf Course underwent major renovation,
the watering system was upgraded, and the redesign to make way for
the new 417 TransCanada Highway expansion was completed. Three new
holes (4,5,6,) were combined with the previous signature hole, number
7, ponds were added, enviornmental areas maintained, to create the
Madawaska Golf Course's own version of Amen Corner.

In 2001 the Madawaska Golf Course continued it's commitment
to being a "Best Value Golf Facility" and became the first
36 Hole Golf Facility in the Arnprior area. The introduction of
the 18 hole par 61 "Sumac Grove Golf Course" with 7 par 4's
and 11 par 3's offers all the fun and the challenge of a longer
course, with the intimidation removed. The 18 hole 3300 yard facility
has only a few trees, no sand traps and no water hazards. The playing
time is about two hours.
The Madawaska Golf Course is committed to growing golf for
all ages, Sumac Grove was designed with this in mind. The
course successfully provides a good learning opportunity for beginners
of all ages. It offers a challenge to veteran golfers to extend
their playing years. The green fees are very reasonable with special
pricing for Juniors under the age 16. With no major elevation changes,
the need to use a power cart is minimized, it is fun to walk.
The greens and tees are top quality bent grass with the custom blended
blue grass fairways. The greens were specifically designed to offer
a challenge to all players. The fun of playing a good chip shot
to the green, followed up with a challenging putt has not been forgotten,
yet you never have to deal with those nasty traps.
Whether you are in the Pro Shop, in the Club House, out on the range
or play either Twisted Pines (Par 70, 5900 yards) or Sumac
Grove (Par 61, 3300 yards) the Madawaska Golf Course
will provide you with a first rate Golf experience, because "we
are a Best Value Golf Facility".
